Job Summary
The Route Manager at Waste Management (WM) is responsible for managing collection routes and overseeing driver and laborer performance across various lines of business. This role ensures that operational needs are met, safety standards are upheld, and customer service is maintained at high levels. The Route Manager plays a crucial role in organizing resources, monitoring productivity, and addressing any operational issues that arise during daily operations.
Responsibilities
- Organizes and schedules all necessary resources required to accomplish activities.
- Coordinates daily operational needs with the Maintenance team.
- Plans, distributes, monitors, and follows-up daily route assignments to ensure customers are serviced per company standards.
- Manages the end-of-day check-in process, capturing and communicating key service, safety, and equipment issues.
- Monitors driver and laborer time and attendance, minimizing overtime.
- Sets and monitors productivity, service, and safety targets for each route and driver.
- Ensures compliance with physicals, drug or alcohol tests, and training required by regulatory agencies.
- Conducts Root Cause Investigations for all injuries and incidents.
- Visits customer sites to evaluate and resolve safety issues.
- Establishes and maintains a clean, safe work environment in compliance with OSHA standards.
