About the position

The Dispatcher/Router position at Waste Management involves communicating with drivers to assist with problem resolution during their routes for various lines of business. The role includes handling incoming service orders, directing drivers, and resolving service issues while interacting with customers and operational staff. The dispatcher will utilize proprietary software to manage routing and prepare for the next day's operations, with a work schedule that may include overtime and Saturday hours depending on market needs.

Responsibilities

  • Dispatches drivers to calls as they are received, balancing cost and customer satisfaction.
  • Works with sites and the service department to optimize routes based on customer needs.
  • Determines daily driver staffing levels for responsiveness and productivity.
  • Assigns routes and service tickets to appropriate drivers throughout the day and for the next day.
  • Handles incoming calls and emails from customer service and sales departments regarding pick-up or delivery requests.
  • Initiates communication with customers while drivers are on-site to resolve issues.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves potential delivery and pick-up problems before they escalate.
  • Ensures same-day service on missed pick-ups by managing routing and tracking driver movement.
